DO NOT BUY- poor design. Mold gets trapped in toothbrush no matter how well you clean it. Oral B is even offering customers a credit towards a new toothbrush if they purchased this one, even though in my opinion a fell Refund from Oral B is needed.

Mold builds up too easily in this model. Too many crevices for water to get in.
1 reply from Oral-B team - 14 days ago
We're disappointed to hear this. Please know that there’s nothing in our toothbrush components that would cause mold before use. Mold requires organic material to grow, which isn’t present in our brushes. This is typically a result of excess toothpaste build up. To avoid this, be sure to thoroughly clean and dry your brush after each use. If you have questions or would like to share more, give us a call at (800) 566-7252.

The people with mold in these reviews clearly missed a step
This toothbrush works great and remains clean and very much usable as long as you follow the usage and cleaning steps. For all the people in the reviews who said there is a mold issue you clearly missed a step in how to use this toothbrush I have used it for over a year and never have had an issue as long as you follow the recommendation and change the brush head every 3 months like dentists recommend.

Oral B OI series 2
So far so good it manipulates through the speeds easily and starts at the lowest speed, which makes most sense. Though it doesn’t have the rubber groupage that older models has it it’s not as slick feeling as the Oral-B 1000 and feels lighter. For more sensitive gums the lower speed works well- . I haven’t tried the app yet but plan too . I chose this model instead of the more expensive one because I didn’t need all the feature features of the other..

Terrible design. Do not buy.
It doesn’t matter what you do, all of your toothpaste WILL leak out of your mouth through the vents on the toothbrush and drip down your arm and all over the place. It’s impossible not to make a mess. It’s forced me to brush exclusively in the shower. Also the battery life is non existent. I sometimes have to charge my toothbrush multiple times a week.

Johnson, we're so incredibly sorry to hear that this has been your experience. Be assured there's nothing in our brushes that can cause mold before use. This can rarely happen if it comes into contact with things of a corrosive nature. We suggest cleaning the brush head after every use by running the brush under running water when on. Afterwards, dry it off. We'd like to connect about this and help you further. Please call us at 800-566-7252.

bad design
there is a gap bw the toothbrush head and body- which will def be impossible to clean. also, felt very flimsy. retuned for the 1000
1 reply from Oral-B team - 20 days ago
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. This gap is normal and intentional. Once the brush is running, the gap allows for the brush to move and vibrate without impacting the casing of the body. The gap is also necessary to allow any water and toothpaste out of the brush stem. You can still clean the area by removing the brush head. If you have any questions, please call us at 800-566-7252.

Mold in my toothbrush! No matter how much I clean it, the holes in the head allow mold to grow in the head and the handle. Yuck! Will be buying another brand!

Thanks for your feedback, Deanna; we're sorry to hear this has happened with your Oral-B iO Series 2 Electric Toothbrush. What you're seeing is likely toothpaste residue/buildup, since mold can only develop on something organic, not plastic or metal. We recommend following these steps for an effective clean: 1. After brushing, rinse the brush head and handle thoroughly under running water, with the handle switched on. 2. Switch the brush handle off, remove the brush head from the handle, and clean both parts separately under running water. 3. Wipe and thoroughly dry both the brush head and handle before placing the brush head back on the handle. Feel free to call us at (800) 566-7252 if you'd like any more assistance!

Beware of the mold...
Super bummed with this toothbrush. I am really good at removing the head every other day to clean and dry under it. After doing this one morning, I found mold growing at the base of the toothbrush head and inside- in the area on the handle that attaches to the brush head. Because of the design, it's really hard to clean and I have to figure out how to soak it or what tool will fit to try to get the mold out. It's gross and I'm reluctant to want to use this brush ever again. I like the old style of brush heads. I never had this problem in all my years with my other electric brushes or my water flosser (all in my current home). Beware of the mold.

Thanks for leaving your review and feedback, Kezza. We're so sorry you've experienced this. Please know that there’s nothing in our toothbrush components that would cause mold, especially before use. Mold requires organic material to grow, which isn’t present in our brushes. It’s important to clean and dry your brush after each brushing session by rinsing the brush head under running water with the handle turned on. Then switch it off, remove the head, clean both parts separately and dry them before reattaching. Also, we don't recommend soaking. You're welcome to call us at (800) 566-7252 for any further assistance.

Gross
I cannot brush my teeth while wearing clothes bc of how bad this thing drips. All gunk gets caught in the crevices; you just can’t get it clean. Throwing it away now that it’s growing mold (despite fully disassembling to clean it after every brush).

I’ve had this for 5 months now and inside the toothbrush is now growing mold. After consulting online, I’m not the only one to have this happen. Absolutely unacceptable for the price of this. I would not buy again and now I can’t return it because it’s outside of the 90 days.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our iO Series 2. We're incredibly sorry to hear that this has been your experience. Please know that there’s nothing in our toothbrush components that would cause mold before use. Mold requires organic material to grow, which isn’t present in our brushes. While it’s rare, mold can develop after use if the brush is stored in a damp area or comes into contact with certain cleaning agents or soaps that can make the plastic porous. By rinsing the brush head under running water with the handle on, then switching it off, removing the head, clean both parts separately, and dry them before reattaching, this can prevent the mold growth. We'd like to connect about this some more and help. Please call us at 800-566-7252.

Gets moldy
I’ve used this toothbrush for about four months. Tonight, I tapped it on the counter to get the excess water off of it and black mold started coming out from underneath the head. Absolutely disgusting. I used to have a much more expensive toothbrush, and when it went out, I thought I would get one around this price range. I am so grossed out. Back to a more expensive product I go. This one also doesn’t like my teeth near as good as a more expensive one does. Also the color has scratched off of it in places.

We understand that seeing buildup on your toothbrush brush head can be concerning, Marcy. This is often just residue from regular use. Even with rinsing after each use, toothpaste can harden over time, creating a chalky coating that may appear black, brown, orange, pink, or grey, depending on your toothpaste and water hardness. To help prevent this issue, we recommend rinsing the brush head thoroughly while the toothbrush is switched on. Next, remove the brush head and thoroughly rinse the brush head and handle, and wipe dry with a clean soft cloth. Your satisfaction matters to us, and we’d like to gather some information to further assist you. Please give our Oral-B Team a call at 1-800-566-7252 from 9AM -- 6PM EST Monday–Friday.
