Q: Does this Dyson model vacuum shag carpeting? I tried the V15 model and it did not. It was amazing on hard surface flooring but when I tried it on carpeting with a thick pile, it did not work.

    The suction is amazing but the battery does not work the time. In auto mode is about 40 min. And no the 70 dyson says. In boost mode is about 12 min. It Is not noisy.

    My new Dyson Vacuum

    I bought this a month ago. I love the vacuum. It does an excellent good job on carpet and hard floors. I rate it 5 Stars. The unit is slightly heavier than previous models as described, however this is not a concern for me.

    Not worth the money or hype!

    I do not love this product! The amount of money I spent on this product does not match up to its performance. The suction is weak on all leave besides the highest level and the head size is way to small that I am vacuum over the same spot multiple times. I will not be buying Dyson again or a stick vacuum.

    Beater bar shuts off often on normal suction and vaccum has to be turned back on. Machine is heavy and it is difficult to roll accross rug even on normal suction.

    Feels cheap, plastic and loose attachements.

    I bought this a month ago. Suction and everything is fine. But the plastic attachements feel poor and kind of loose. I mean there is movement between the machine and the attached stick. That feels cheap en the feeling that in a view months it all falls apart. So for the money spend, expensive, it doesn't feel solid and worth it.

    Its ok, a very expensive meh

    Performs ok, but not as well as I’d expect given the price. The plastic feels cheap with a lot of give in the joints between parts. The battery life is also surprisingly short, especially in boost mode. Great marketing though, shame the product falls short of the hype.

    Amazing we are in a rental with 30 year old carpets that got proffesionally cleaned. The dyson still sucked up an additional load per bedroom. They look so much better.

    Best vacuum ever!

    Best stick vacuum I’ve ever owned! The Dyson Gen5detect is hands-down the best vacuum I’ve ever used. The suction is insane for a stick vacuum, and the laser dust detection is one of those features you don’t realise you need until you see how much dirt it reveals. As a cat owner, the real test for me is pet hair—and this vacuum absolutely nails it. It pulls cat hair out of my carpet and easily picks up from those spots along baseboards where fur loves to hide. I had used my old vacuum 3 days before purchasing this Dyson and tried it straight away out of the box and was amazed how much it picked up that my old stick didn’t! Battery life is solid, the vacuum is surprisingly quiet for how powerful it is, and it’s lightweight enough to use daily without feeling like a workout. The LCD screen showing real-time particle counts is a cool bonus and makes it feel like a high-tech cleaning tool rather than just another vacuum. Yes, it’s pricey—but the performance, build quality, and results make it 100% worth it especially if you can get it on sale like I did. If you have pets this vacuum is a game changer. Highly recommend.

    I bought my Dyson in June. I really want it to be my "forever" vacuum cleaner, but it keeps jamming. There are instructions to clear the blockage, but it keeps happening. I am currently overseas. Dyson said I could take it to your facility at East Tamaki which I will do when I am back in Auckland.

    Overall great stick vacuum by Dyson

    This is a great stick vacuum cleaner. It has great suction for carpet and wooden floors and attachments very handy. Easy to clean the filters and battery life is very good when using on auto. I like the on off button very useful. Would highly recommend.

    Great on hard floors, terrible on rugs.

    Awesome vacuum cleaner on hard floors and carpets but terrible on rugs as the suction jams the head constantly. The only way I have overcome this is to vacuum backwards. Otherwise highly recommended.

    Can't be used on our carpet

    Unfortunately our carpet pile is too long for this to work. Pile gets tucked into the head, it stops spinning and the machine cuts out. Can only use on carpet on the lowest setting. Wouldn't have bought if we knew this. I also find the floppy head makes it hard to use.
