Dont buy.
Wish it worked. The lever to push down doesn’t stay down in order for the toaster to toast. Disappointed. (1 star only bc I had to ..not earned)

Lever won’t stay down
We recently redid our entire kitchen in GE cafe appliances. We were happy to learn cafe had a matching toaster to add to the new look of the kitchen. We’ve had the new toaster for a few months when the lever would not stay down, making it useless. We’ve removed the few crumbs it had and still can not get the lever to stay down.

Doesn't pop up anymore when done toasting
I’ve had it since September 2025, & it has stopped popping up when it’s done toasting. Very disappointed and can’t return to Target, as return window has closed.

Toxic smell
The toaster looks cool, but we had to put it in the garage for a few weeks due to the toxicity of the fumes it emits. It's in the house now but still hasn't burned off all the plastic used in manufacturing. Ugh.

We recommend setting the browning level to maximum and operating the appliance empty in a well-ventilated room to cure the new elements. This can help remove the oils and odors from manufacturing.

I don't recommend
I do not like this toaster. It does not toast evenly. It also either toasts too much or too little. This is the 2nd one I have owned as well. The 1st one broke in under a year for no apparent reason. I was hoping it was just a bad toaster, but this 2nd one is just as poor. I give it 2 stars because it doesn't use much plastic and looks nice.

Proof that Beauty isn’t Everything — Save Your $$$
This toaster, while very attractive, is poorly made and barely performs as well as much cheaper toasters. Even during the 12 months the toaster worked, it did a poor job of toasting, unevenly toasting the two sides of a piece of bread and doing an even worse job toasting bagels. While the warranty lasts 12 months, my toaster stopped toasting at the beginning of month 13, leaving me with an attractive object for my countertop but not the toaster I need and will now have to replace after already spending way too much on this disappointing toaster.

Beautiful but stopped working
I purchased this toaster in January 2025 and it stopped toasting one side of the bread in February 2026. Unfortunately, the limited warranty only applies for one year. Even before this toaster stopped working properly, it wasn't anything special and worked as well as an inexpensive toaster would. The one thing the toaster has going for it is that it's beautiful. Unfortunately, being beautiful doesn't toast the toast and I now have an overpriced but attractive toaster that doesn't work and is no longer under warranty.

Very uneven browning
When performing the ONE SINGLE TASK that is expected to do: Toast bread - it does a less than stellar job. The browning is VERY uneven. The only thing that is consistent, is the inconsistency of the browning.

Broke after only a few uses.
I received this toaster as a gift for Christmas. It broke only after a few uses. It appears the carriage assembly isn’t very sturdy and bent very easily just from popping up. I did get a replacement toaster as it was still covered by warranty. I suggest GE find a better quality supplier.

not that great
still learning settings, but don't like the heating performance, works best when pushing the frozen button. If set at 8 it does not toast bread comes out barely toasted. Not worth the money, I would buy something else if I knew.

Cafe toaster below expectations
So very disappointed in this toaster as it’s beautiful aesthetically; however, it’s cheaply made and in the first week of use I many times can’t get the lever to stay down. Also, you can’t place sourdough or other breads that are long in it. When it works, it does toast well. My KitchenAid toaster I had for 28 years still works but looks pretty old and was the only reason I bought this cafe toaster. I find myself still reaching for the old one and after a wk I plan to take this new toaster back. For such an expensive toaster, I expected something better.
