Q: Does this Dyson model vacuum shag carpeting? I tried the V15 model and it did not. It was amazing on hard surface flooring but when I tried it on carpeting with a thick pile, it did not work.

Dyson used to be good, the best in the business. While the motors have changed, the accessories aren’t made as they were. We’ve had dysons ever since they first came out and this newest batch is by far the worst: flimsy and broke within 3 months of owning, I really don’t think I’ll get another Dyson until their product quality is back to normal

The suction of this Dyson for carpet is superior to the outsize V11 I previously had, however, I do miss the outsize head. The Choice rating indicates that the outsize does not perform as well as the smaller size that is why I purchased the regular stick.

Turning the tube into two different attachments is brilliant and I love the fact that you don’t have to hold a trigger while you’re vacuuming. It just stays on that’s awesome. Also the removable battery is also great because you can charge another one and if you run out of power then you just snap the second battery on. As far as the lit powerhead that shows you where the dirt is, it’s amazing. I thought I had my hardwood floors clean, but I did not until I got this. It is totally awesome.

Bought several weeks ago to replace our aging dyso ball vacuum. Loving this stick. Suction power is amazing. The hard floor head is perfect t for our dark wood floors and the green light clearly shows up all the dust and debris. Have used the upholstery head to clean the car and again great suction power. Battery lasts so I can clean the whole house in one go. Have only needed to use the medium power option to date and find that handles everything so far.

I The Gen 5 seems to an excellent job and thought it was worth the investment BUT Even if I thoroughly cleanmy dark wood floors by day leaving no visible dust or particles and visible dirt in the cannister if I vacuum the same night when room lights are low or off the laser light shows endless dust giving the impression that nothing was picked up.

This is my 4th Dyson. It replaced my V10 which was still going strong after 6 years but I couldn’t resist trying the updated technology. I don’t find it particularly heavy as some other reviewers do. I find it easy to manoeuvre and really like the performance. I love the light that detects dust and dog hair. My bin collects so much dust, even when I thought my floors looked quite clean. I love the auto function and use it all the time. I have one rug out of all my rugs that I need to manually adjust power to low to prevent head sticking and stop rotating. The battery life is great. I clean my 4 bedroom bungalow using the auto function and still have over 50% battery left.

While the vacuum per se is excellent, the build quality exquisite, the suction fantastic, the noise levels far better than these of every other vacuum cleaners that I've come across, the versatility out of this world and the similarity with a super hero weapon (or the ghostbusters' plasma series neutrona wand) ultra fun, the default attachments miss a tool that can help capturing dust under hard-to-reach locations, which is found by default in other vacuums.

The performance of this vacuum cleaner is the best I have ever used. The attachments are easy to use and the vacuum cleaner is lightweight which makes it easy to carry upstairs. It is very powerful which is needed when you have a dog. Brilliant!
