Q: Any advice on how to get the spout to stop leaking? I’ve tightened the bolt, and I’m sick of water leaking in my fridge. I’m very close to banning Brita in my house.

submitted by Nico - 2 months ago
  • A: We went through at least 4 of these, the most expensive black one.. bought a stainless steel spout.. ect. Nothing worked and horrible leaking or cracking. We gave up. But now I have tons of filters I don’t know what to do with.

Q: had trouble removing the top water tray to clean bottom container. Is this model made differently?

submitted by Gilbert - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi there, Gilbert. We're sorry to hear you had trouble removing the reservoir of our Brita Ultramax Dispenser, and we'd like to give you a few tips. Using both hands, pull the reservoir up from the housing evenly on all sides. If you have any difficulty, try placing your dispenser on the counter. As it warms to room temperature, the tank will expand a little then the reservoir will be easier to remove. Another option is filling the dispenser with water, then turning it upside down in your sink. The pressure of the water should cause the reservoir to separate from the housing. Also, there have been no recent changes to the model. We hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to our team at 800-242-7482 and reference this number: 201117-000983. • A: You're lucky you get two weeks out of a filter! I switched from Brita almost 20 months ago because I had bad tasting water immediately from Brita filters. It was strange because I had been using Brita for a long time and then it was like the manufacturer changed something with the filters. I tried buying them in different places and nothing seemed to make a difference. I ended up switching to Pur and have had no issues.

Q: I bought this filter in November and saw algae depositing at the bottom of the filter. I dint know how that is possible when the water is getting filtered. Where do I put in the complain?

submitted by Filter - 8 years ago
  • A: Depending on how much you use the Brita, the filter needs to be changed pretty often, like every month or two. I also noticed it gets slimey in the reservoir and at the bottom of the Brita if it's not cleaned often enough. Hope this helps!

Q: How long does it take for the whole dispenser to fill up?

submitted by targetfan123 - 9 years ago
  • A: Hi, there! That's a great question. The time it takes for water to pass through the filter will vary according to how the carbon has settled inside filter as well as how the water is poured in. Typically, it should take no longer than 10 minutes for the water to fill the pitcher. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-24-BRITA between 9am-5:30pm EST and we'd be happy to help you.

I bought one of these that lasted 2.5 years before the spout started leaking water in my fridge. I bought a replacement and have been using it for 3 months. It is now leaking all over my fridge, not worth the money. I will be switching to the PUR brand.

I recently got the Brita Ultra Max for my home and it’s honestly become a staple in our kitchen. Right off the bat, this thing holds a ton of water about 27 cups which means I only need to refill it every couple of days. That’s a huge win during busy work weeks. The setup was straightforward. Filling the reservoir and letting it filter through took just a few minutes, and once it was ready wow the water tasted noticeably smoother and cleaner than tap water. Not just less chlorine, but even ordinary mineral flavors seem muted now. The dispenser itself is impressively well built. The sturdy handle makes it easy to lift, and the strong spigot dispenses water cleanly with no drips or mess. I keep it on my counter and it doesn't feel oversized or cluttered. In fact, we use it so often that our refrigerator barely gets touched now especially when I’m grabbing water for coffee or cooking. Overall, I’d highly recommend the Brita Ultra Max for anyone who wants easy access to cleaner, better tasting drinking water especially in a household of two or more. It’s large, reliable, and really takes the hassle out of staying hydrated.

Should of just bought the pitcher but needed something bigger that way I don’t have to refill it all the time but geeez it leaks so much and I’ve only had it for a month. Sucks cuz water tastes great. I thought I must of gotten a defective one but seeing the reviews it seems like it’s a known issue 🫤

Love this! We have very hard water and while it is drinkable, it doesn’t taste good. Sending it thru the brita completely takes the bad flavor away. I also love this size since I typically drink out of a 40 oz cup. I’m able to fill my cup and still have plenty left over.

I appreciate the larger capacity to reduce number of refills per day. Although, out of the box, mine had a large crack in the filter insert piece. So basically I just bought a container to drink my unfiltered water in. Looked for replacement parts and there are none. Any support with this?

It was great for the first month and then it started to leak. Constant drips from the spout now matter how much I adjust it. There’s a literal iceberg underneath it in my refrigerator. Chose Brita because the filters are cheaper than the Pur filters. That was a mistake.

We picked up our first Brita UltraMax about three years ago, then grabbed a second one for the fridge a few months later. Since then, both have been running every single day without a hitch. It holds enough water to keep everyone happy without constantly refilling, which is a big win in our house. The spigot is super convenient and doesn’t leak or get stuck, even after daily use. The water tastes noticeably cleaner and smoother, and we’ve saved money compared to buying bottled water all the time. Filters are easy to swap out and don’t cost a fortune. I set a reminder on my phone every two months and it takes me less than a minute to pop a new one in. Plus, the slim design fits in the fridge perfectly without taking up all the space. Solid, reliable water dispenser for daily use, you really can’t go wrong with the UltraMax. Ours have held up like champs and kept us happily hydrated for years. Highly recommend.

Leaks after 2 months of use. It started slowly, so we thought maybe it was getting bumped in the fridge and that's why it would drip, but now (3.5 mo later) we can see it drip when nothing is even touching it. Such a bummer as I love the shape and style. But I'll have to find something else for the fridge now.
