Q: does any part the system pass waterthrough filter containing copper? does this potentially allow copper levels to raise? Eco filter brand adds 6x copper cuz it passes through filter containing copper.

submitted by spring cleaner - 11 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. No part of the LifeStraw Home system—including the membrane or carbon filters—passes water through any component made of or containing copper. As a result, the filtration process does not introduce copper into the water. In fact, the activated carbon and ion exchange resin used in our filters are designed to reduce heavy metals, including copper, if present in the source water. I hope this helps answer your question!

Q: Do the unopened cartridges dry out after how many months in storage?Do cartridges fit all your pitchers & counter top models? doesn't bacteria build up if you do not refrigerate pitcher after filling?

submitted by spring cleaner - 11 months ago
  • A: Hello! Thank you for your questions. I hope I can help clarify. Shelf Life of Unopened Filters: Our carbon + ion exchange filters do not have a shelf life if left unopened and stored in a cool, dry place. Filter Compatibility: The carbon + ion exchange filter is compatible with all LifeStraw Home models, including glass and BPA-free plastic pitchers and dispensers. It’s a universal fit across our countertop-style products. Bacteria Buildup Without Refrigeration: Once the pitcher is filled, we recommend using the filtered water within 24–48 hours if it's kept at room temperature. Refrigeration helps slow any potential bacterial growth, especially in warmer environments. If not refrigerated, we suggest refreshing the water daily for best taste and safety. Let us know if you need help with anything else.

Q: Can these filters be left to dry out and then beginning to use quite a time later- like 3 weeks? Or do these filters need to remain in use (wet) continuously?

submitted by Lisa - 2 years ago
  • A: For durations less than a couple of months they can be dried out and stored in a sealable, airtight container or bag. If you're going to be storing this for more than two months we recommend replacing the carbon filter when your resume use.

    Good tirle

Concerned about the excessive white sediment when water is boiled, can't really tell because I got the dark 10 cup picture

    Love, except. .

I really like the size and shape of this filter and dispenser. The blue looks Great. The one thing, it actually happens with all dispensers after some time, even with indirect northern light, is algae growth. I wish they'd make a fitted COVER to fit over the whole thing to block the light. I use various improvised light blockers at this time but a fitted cover would be amazing. That's the only reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

    Slow drip

I really like the product but refilling is a problem! It takes too long. I know it’s filtering but it’s not working for more than one person

    Good product with one exception

The dispenser does not always close tightly. Found a mess in the refrigerator. Other than that good product.

Like the filter but the plastic pitcher is okay

I love my lifestraw products. I also have a glass pitcher. I though a plastic version for my upstairs bathroom would be a better idea plus it came in fun colors they didn't have in glass. But the inner filter part slips around requiring me to hold it at an odd angle so I can keep a finger on the top as I pour. It's not at all what I expected from lifestraw.

    Do not buy

I got this so I did not have to buy plastic water bottles but I literally just wasted my money. It taste like tap water and it does not help at all. I literally tried it so many times. I have ran a lot of cycles and it still taste the same.

    So Very Happy!

I thought it would be like other purifiers I have tried in the past. I was wrong. This is such a refreshing surprise. I have not had the eminence pleasure of water this good since childhood. The water has the extraordinary quality of reminding me how water should taste. Thank you for your care in manufacturing and for you your concern for us as humans. Please continue with the same passion in your future endeavors. DB

    18 cup dispenser

This dispenser is awesome! It fits perfectly in the fridge. We have city water, when you get water from the tap you can smell the chlorine, the dispenser completely removed the smell and water ever else they put in our water. The only thing I found, is don't fill it all the way to the top. I leave about 1" with no water or it will leak. I highly recommend this product and it's very affordable.

    Plastic pitcher cracks

I’ve had some issues. The quality of the filter holds up- as far as I’m concerned. However, I’ve had 2- plastic filters crack/leak. The first one was almost immediately. The second time, was a few months in. The filter though- has to be primed or in action at least every 2-3 weeks, so if you are not home for weeks at a time, this filter is not for you:…trying to bring a dried out filter back to life is tough.

Replacement filters for my LifeStraw pitchers

Your directions make it so simple to change the charcoal filters every 2 months. And the main filter last quite a while. I know when my pitchers start to be slow that it’s time to care for them. The water tastes so good.
